Home Improvement
Upon returning to Montana, I purchased a couple homes and live in the smallest one. Given I primarily work from home and my hours vary, I wanted a place that I could put to use the skills I learned growing up and do a little remodeling. If it wasn’t adding rooms, siding, windows, hardwood floors or painting at my aunt’s home, I was helping my grandpa erect a new building, digging post holes or whatever else they had me do. I like creating things and working with my hands, so I thought why limit myself to a keyboard and mouse.
The photos and information below share my home improvement project.

This is a photo after I installed a new door, replaced the sidewalk and landscaped the yard. Jamie and I painted the shutters and still have to paint the rain gutters.
Given I had dug up the yard to do the landscaping, I also installed 4 egress windows, 4′x4′ each, with 6-foot by 6 foot by 3 foot wells. So far, the only thing I’ve had to hire out for the whole house was paying a company to cut the holes in my foundation for the windows. I talked my grandpa into helping me pour the new sidewalk and my buddy Dave into helping me set/install the windows and front door.
This winter I hope to remodel the basement, and then next spring I shall address the kitchen, bathroom, garage and back yard.
