Goomzee #1 In Google For Text Message Marketing!

November 30th, 2006 by Mike Sparr

Although we are still ramping up for our local pilot before mass marketing, after only 1 week of publishing our new website, we are already #1 in Google’s natural search for

Real Estate Text Message Marketing

I was amazed at the rapid climb up the search engine “ladder” but given we’ve been in business for over 3 years and ranking high in search engines already, it further proves that when our e-commerce (stores) customers choose Goomzee, just by our linking to their site gives them a better chance of being found online.

Click the Google link above and be sure to click Goomzee’s link and learn about this exciting new service that will be available nationwide after the holidays. :)

Holiday Fun

November 26th, 2006 by Mike Sparr

Happy holidays!

Below is a photo taken with my mobile phone while attending last weekend’s Griz playoff game against McNeese State University.  “The Oval” is back-dropped by Main Hall which sets in front of Mount Sentinel, a well-know icon for Missoula and The University.  I snapped this photo before the game and when we walked back across campus after the game it was dismembered.  :(   Enjoy it, because this could very well be the last known photo of Frosty.

Vonage VOIP Phone Service vs. AT&T CallVantage

November 21st, 2006 by Mike Sparr

As a customer of both AT&T CallVantage (over a year) and recently Vonage, I thought I would write a brief comparison based on my experiences thus far. Both boast the same features except for a few exceptions. I’ll also look at sound quality, availability and service.

Upgrade Email Piping For Kayako 3 on Ensim

November 16th, 2006 by Mike Sparr

Normally my sysadmins install and upgrade software on my servers but as I grew impatient last weekend for one request, I decided to upgrade our support system myself. One feature was not working, however, which was the email parsing and auto ticket generation from incoming emails. I found that it worked slightly different with version 3 compared with version 2.

When I Was Cute

November 14th, 2006 by Mike Sparr

You may or may not believe it, but some people say I WAS cute at one point in my life.  :)   Below is a photo of me likely about 6 or 7 years old (on the left) with my older siblings, step-sister Xondra and half-brother Scott.  It’s crazy but nearly every sibling and parent in my fam-damily has a different last name.  From Sparr to Anderson to Gallagher to Merrill to Bartsch and likely Richards in the future (hint, hint Lisa); then there are the aunts, uncles and cousins - beware!  :)

Goomzee Junior

November 13th, 2006 by Mike Sparr

Brandon Reep, the namesake for Goomzee (his childhood nickname) is the proud papa of his son Nicholas. I wanted to share with the world the moment he first laid eyes on his baby boy! Nice work, my friend. :)

The Most Exciting Thing About The Internet

November 12th, 2006 by Mike Sparr

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who visit this site and participate online. As I make my living by helping others create online businesses or help solve business problems with Internet software, sometimes I forget why the Internet is such an amazing phenomenon and why I truly love what I do.

This evening my wife and I joined a couple friends for dinner and hanging out. We then visited the video store and bought 4 more DVDs to add to my growing collection (I love movies). We watched one, “The Break Up”, and just before retiring for the evening, I decided to open up the laptop and check my email (yes I’m an addict). The coolest thing happened…

Borat Takes On America

November 9th, 2006 by Mike Sparr

While living in London, I always enjoyed the comedic antics of Sacha Baron Cohen who is best known for his Ali G character.  I must admit, in the past couple months when I saw ads for the movie, Borat, I didn’t realize that it was actually him at first.  I plan to watch the movie this weekend so I can report back.

About Sacha Baron Cohen - Wikipedia

You can read more by clicking the link above and reading the Wikipedia article about him.  Enjoy!

EcliptixNet Broadband Receives Federal Grant

November 9th, 2006 by Mike Sparr

State Government Officials Present EcliptixNet Broadband with Check

For over 2 years, the dream of “bringing the light of wireless broadband to shadowed communities” has loomed over my buddy’s head. Well I’m proud to announce that EcliptixNet Broadband received a little light itself in the form of a $529,340.00 check. I’ve been assisting Jeff as time allows (alongside growing Goomzee) to try and help realize his dream, a wireless (wi-fi/wi-max) broadband Internet Service Provider (WISP) that offers connectivity to rural communities from Eastern Washington to Western Montana. Jeff was relentless in his pursuit, at times almost sick to his stomach knowing the opportunity but running into roadblocks along the way. I can relate.

Well as you see from the photo above, the federal grant that provides seed capital to “light up” Springdale Washington is a great first step towards realizing the dream. Jeff is a native Montanan, born and raised in Alberton Montana (30 miles west of Missoula) so he knows very well the challenges many smaller communities face, especially in this technology-driven era. Congratulations Jeff and you see persistance and true passion does come with rewards in due time. :)
