Sending Files To Your LG VX8350 Using Bluetooth On Mac
I was using Bluetooth and tried to use the OBEX commands to send a file to my LG VX8350 phone but the phone was locked down for that file type. It refused the file. I then chose the browse option, navigated to the MyPictures folder, and transferred the file successfully. This may be a helpful workaround for anyone trying to test pictures, etc. on cell phones. (hint)
See the error you may have faced and then see my solution below (for Mac OSX):
Send File Failed:

First I tried to use the Send File… option

I chose my LG VX8350, then chose a file from my local computer.

I received the File type not accepted warning and opted to proceed anyway.

Both on the phone and computer, I received failed errors and it would not work. I read the specs on my phone, however, and it was supposed to support the animated GIF (like animated wallpaper graphic). I assume this was locked out to force you to buy animated wallpaper but the browse/transfer option worked. See below:
Browse and Send Succeeded!:

I instead chose the Browse Device option.

I again chose my LG VX8350 phone to connect to. I then chose which file I wanted to send.

I then was given directory options and I chose MyPictures, clicked Send and chose the same file (movie_gcolor.gif).

The file started uploading to the phone.

I now have the animated gif on my phone and can send to friends or save as wallpaper.

Do you know of anyway to sync your phonebook contacts via bluetooth using this phone?

There is a free service for Verizon I know of that syncs your phone nightly w/ online backups. They also have a web admin interface for it and I believe you can import contacts. I’m unsure on true sync though. Hope that helps.
For Verizon: Get It Now > Business Apps > Backup Assistant (follow instructions)
You need to have an online account (free registration) and then they credit your bill so even though it notifies you of some charge like $2.99, you won’t be charged. It then backs up your phone nightly and helps if ever lost or replace phone. The online admin does have capabilities to add more contacts in browser and I believe import, then next sync they would be on your phone.

As far as bluetooth sync, I don’t know of any but it may be worth searching for some freeware. I use a mac and there are some cool free widgets/apps out there that sync w/ bluetooth phones to allow you to send SMS from your widget (via your phone), etc. Your need is so common I am sure there is something.
