My World Travels

One of my passions is travel. I’ve been fortunate enough to experience a lot of amazing places and now I hope to share and explore more with my wife, Jamie. We’ve visited several tropical locations and soon will venture off to other continents.

Here are some of my notible destinations visited thus far: The Great Pyramids of Egypt, Sailing on the Nile, Valley of the Kings and Tutankamen’s tomb, diving in the Red Sea in Sharm El Sheik, Stonehenge in UK, Great Barrier Reef in Cairns Australia, Rio de Janiero Brazil, Tokyo Japan, Bangkok Thailand, Melbourne and Sydney Australia, Helsinki Finland, London England, Paris France, Rome Italy, Lisbon Portugal, Berlin Germany, St. Petersburg Russia, Stockholm Sweden, Tallin Estonia, Amsterdam Netherlands, Cozumel Mexico, Copenhangen Denmark, Singapore, Taipei Taiwan, Hong Kong, Calcutta (Kolkata), New Delhi, Agra, Ranchi and Jaipur India and of course, all over the United States of America.

I grew up in Missoula Montana and have lived in San Francisco, California, Denver, Colorado, Reno, Nevada, Helsinki Finland and London, England. I now live in my hometown of Missoula Montana with my wife and two girls (cats Paris and Nikki). Below are some photos from a few notable locales:

London by night
Night photos while returning from work. I lived in a posh flat on the south bank of the Thames called The Whitehouse. If you see the London Eye (big ferris wheel) I lived in building just to the left of it in 2002-2003. I still kept my place in San Francisco and that became Rohit’s city crash pad, probably spending more nights there than I. :)

St Pauls Cathedral from Millenium Bridge
View of St. Paul’s Cathedral while standing on the South Bank of the Millenium Bridge - rather artistic I have to brag. :)

Buckingham Palace in London
Ran into fellow University of Montana student at Buckinham Palace in London.

The Louvre - Paris
The glass pyramid entrance to the Louvre. I found out afterwards that since my company was a major sponsor of the arts, I didn’t have to queue or pay entry (I did anyway). I have taken advantage of this when visiting San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and the Exploratoreum - ahh the perks. :)

Sitting at cove between Nice and Monte Carlo (French Riviera)
French Riviera - a cove between Nice and Monte Carlo. I drove to Cannes and skipped St. Tropez one day, spending time in parks along the way. Another day I took the drive through Nice and along the coast all the way to Monte Carlo. It is so beautiful and the tunnel that goes through the cliff to reach Monte Carlo reminds me of the tunnel you go through to South Lake Tahoe in Nevada (coming from Carson City).

Hanging with friends in La Gaffe
La Gaffe, Antibes - out with friends and ran into another American. Many of my friends have villas between Sofia, Nice and Antibes so I crashed at Liam’s one evening, Raymond’s place overlooking the water and Cap du Antibes and then a random villa one evening. I also ran into one of my colleagues that I worked with in Helsinki and we did a day trip to an old art village. She was living at another friend, Tobias’, villa for the year and learning French.

Coffee Shop in Amsterdam
“Coffee Shop” in Amsterdam - buddies/co-workers Rich (Denver, CO) and Cerile (Nice, France)

Biggest party ever
Amsterdam - Thousands of people at probably the largest party I’ve ever seen. We heard about it at one of the clubs and drove 30 miles into the countryside to a huge warehouse on a farm. They had the area roped off and lines and security just like the airport. When we got inside it was people as far as the eye could see and then an elevated DJ booth at the very end with lights, pyro and smoke.

Hanging with friends in Helsinki
Hanging with friends in Helsinki Finland. “Anteeksi mutta osaan vain rumia sanoja koska mun tyokaveri opetaa vaiin niita.” - for my Finnish friends; yes I still can speak the language, “uskomatonta mutta totta.” :)

Parasailing - Cairns Australia
Parasailing off the coast of Cairns Australia. As it was too windy I had to go tandem and one of the Japanese tourists on the boat let me “borrow” his wife - afterwards I thanked him in Japanese and was a hit. :)

Victoria Peak - Hong Kong
Standing atop Victoria Peak In Hong Kong - I treated myself to the Marriott in Admiralty in an executive suite with a Harbor view for a couple days after “roughing it” in India. It was a great city and I travelled throughout Hong Kong, the Northern Territories and Recourse Bay.

Jaipur India - Palace hotel
Checking my bags at my hotel in Jaipur. The hotels are 4 and 5 star palaces for just over $100 (would be $400-800/night elsewhere. I actually met some folks in the lobby who run the gaming division for Sony.

Visiting the Taj Mahal in Agra India
I spent just over 2 weeks in India in 2004. I attended my friend’s wedding, a traditional weeklong Indian ceremony, then a couple of us Americans ventured off to the Golden Triangle, hitting Rajastan (Jaipur), New Delhi, Agra and everywhere in between. Here I am early morning sitting in front of the Taj Mahal.
